Candace Alexander, , MEd, CHES is the Director of Health Promotions in Phoenix, Arizona for the American Lung Association.  She has served in several positions over the past nine and a half years; and currently oversees a team that is responsible for adult and youth tobacco prevention and cessation , as well as  patients and healthcare practitioners education signature programs for Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and Texas.  She also leads the Priority Populations National Workgroup Subcommittee. Previously, Candace worked in the corporate arena as a Marketing Rep and Marketing Manager for 18 years, before moving into the non-profit world.  She worked in numerous positions with the American Heart Association for 10 ½ years, where she co-authored the curriculum for a faith-based program; for which over 350 ethnic-minority faith communities had individuals trained to build health ministry teams, under her direction.  She also served on numerous advisory committees, including the Ohio Commission on Minority Health. Candace earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and her master’s in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Cincinnati; as well as certifications in various methods of yoga and has provided yoga instruction for the past eight years.  Candace enjoys spending time with her three adult children, six grandchildren and friends.
