Pedro Haro, MPH is the Executive Director for the American Lung Association in Hawaii and holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Hawaii. Prior to joining the Lung Association, Pedro provided public health, communications, and advocacy consulting to private, non-profit and governmental organizations for over two decades through his business Social Marketing Hawaii. He oversaw the outreach to disparately affected populations for the Hawaii Department of Health’s Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, led the communications campaigns for the Hawaii Tobacco Quitline, guided the outreach efforts for Fight the Bite campaign, and helped launch the Hawaii Says NO MORE campaign, focusing on ending domestic violence and sexual assault. In 2018, as Deputy Director of Mental Health America of Hawaii, Pedro oversaw the launch of Kokua Life, the first suicide prevention mobile application in the state. He was named one of Pacific Business News’ 40-Under-40 in 2019 for his work with Hawaii Advocacy Director for Caring Across Generations which led to the passage of the Kupuna Caregivers Act, the first-in-the-nation program aimed at aiding unpaid family caregivers of elderly loved ones.
