Dr. Brown is an assistant professor of thoracic surgery at the University of California, Davis Health. She has expertise in thoracic surgical oncology, including cancers of the lung, mediastinum, esophagus, chest wall and thymus. She is also adept at using minimally invasive techniques, including endoscopic, thoracoscopic (VATS), and robotic surgery. Dr. Brown is the clinical director of the UC Davis Comprehensive Lung Cancer Screening Program and Value Team Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Stepdown Unit. In addition to patient care, Dr. Brown is a clinical researcher focusing on patient-centered outcomes and health services research.
Dr. Brown earned her M.D. degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin where she was President of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Brown acquired her master of advanced study degree in clinical research while working in the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UCSF where she focused on acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). She completed her cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis and a year of advanced minimally invasive thoracic and foregut surgery at Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle.
