Joining the Cause at LUNG FORCE Walks
"We're here to help patients and advocate for clinical research and clinical trials," said Nicole Muraca, an AbbVie employee and LUNG FORCE Walk participant at the Rhode Island LUNG FORCE Walk on Saturday, June 16. AbbVie, a research-based global biopharmaceutical company, is focused on delivering transformative advances in treatment across some of the most debilitating and widespread cancers.
It is estimated that in 2018, 234,030 Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer, and only 16 percent are diagnosed at an early stage when it can be treated more effectively. New methods of early detection are essential, as survival rates are five times higher when lung cancer is detected early. Since LUNG FORCE launched in 2014, the American Lung Association has invested more than $9.3 million in lung cancer research to accelerate the pace of progress. During LUNG FORCE Walks, participants learn more about the latest treatment options and lung cancer research. AbbVie employees across the country like Nicole are participating in LUNG FORCE Walks and joining the cause to support patients and clinical trials research.
"I'm proud to work for an organization that is partnering with non-profit organizations like the American Lung Association to support those impacted by lung cancer and get us closer to finding a cure," said Gail Klein.
LUNG FORCE Walks
Raising awareness and funds for lung cancer research, advocacy and local educational programs, LUNG FORCE Walks area time to imagine a world free of lung disease. LUNG FORCE Walks enable survivors, caregivers, healthcare providers and those that have lost a loved one to rally and support one another at this Lung Association signature event.
In addition to the Walk itself, participants are encouraged to use their "Action Passport" to visit stations to find out about Lung Association programs and services, advances in lung cancer research and lung health policies. American Lung Association 2018 National Breathe Deeper Sponsor, AbbVie empowers participants to learn more about lung cancer risks and the importance of early detection and screening, and receive educational materials and local resources for survivors and caregivers.
Don't sit on the sidelines, join the cause by walking with lung cancer survivors, caregivers and those who have lost loved ones. With your help, we can change the trajectory of this devastating disease. Join the thousands of Americans who will come together to bring hope and support for those affected by lung cancer.
