Grammy Award-winning singer Patti LaBelle lost many people close to her to lung cancer. Two of her sisters, Jackie and Vivian, lost their lives to the disease in their early 40s as well as her first choir instructor who helped shape who she is as a performer.

Every 8 minutes, a woman in the United States loses her battle with lung cancer. That's roughly 190 women a day. These are our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. Many people call lung cancer the silent killer—the 5-year survival rate is only 17 percent.

Because of her personal experience Patti has partnered with the American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE initiative and is lending her iconic voice to help raise awareness for the disease that claims the lives of more than any other cancer in the country.

This is National Women's Lung Health Week, and we're encouraging everyone to support lifesaving lung cancer research by donating at your local CVS Pharmacy or online here.
