Michael F. Busk, MD, MPH is the system executive of the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventive Care Institute. In addition, Dr. Busk serves as the Principal Investigator and Research Director of the St. Vincent American Lung Association-Airway Clinical Research Center (ACRC). In his role as System Executive, Dr. Busk cares for individual and corporate clients by assessing their current health risks and providing disease prevention, detection, treatment and management along with clinical research and medical/patient education. In the Institute, he directs the St. Vincent Executive Health Program and the St. Vincent Healthcare and Wellness Worksite Centers.

Dr. Busk was previously the associate professor of clinical medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Occupational Medicine, and was the Catherine and Lowe Berger and Pauline L. Ford Investigator in Pulmonary Medicine. He served as the medical and research director for the National Institute for Fitness and Sport. He is the former director of the Indiana University Executive Health, Corporate Wellness and Prevention Program. While previously assistant professor at the University of California, San Francisco, he served as medical director for the Center for Municipal Occupational Safety and Health (employee health) for the city of San Francisco.

Dr. Busk graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned his Medical Degree from the Rosalind Franklin University/Chicago Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Thoracic Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed a second fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Busk earned a Master of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley.

Since 1987, Dr. Busk has conducted research in airway diseases. He has been a Co- and Principal Investigator of the ACRC Research Center since 1999. In 2011, he received the American Lung Association in Indiana Legacy Award for his research in lung disease. Dr. Busk serves on the national board of directors of the American Lung Association and American Lung Association in Indiana. He has authored several journal articles and book chapters on lung disease, prevention and exercise.

In 2017, Dr. Busk received the 2017 St. Vincent Research Symposium Career Achievement in Research Award.
