Karen Hughes

Workplace Engagement Council

Karen Hughes has been involved with the American Lung Association for nearly 20 years.  She first became involved as an event participant and volunteer when the Fight For Air Climb came to her community in 2008.  After several years of voluntary engagement, Karen joined the organization as an employee in 2015.  She served as a local Executive Director before joining the nationwide Development & Special Events Team in 2020.  Always up for a challenge, Karen recently became Director of Project Management for the Information Technology team. In this capacity, she oversees the many projects involving the Lung Association’s technological advancements and data transformation initiatives. Karen is a proud graduate of The College of William & Mary.  While working as a Resident Assistant and Head Resident throughout her college career, Karen’s leadership style and ability to foster meaningful, fair and equitable relationships came to life. When not at work, Karen enjoys a simple outdoor life in a small beach town with her husband and their son.
