Dr. Manochakian earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo, Syria.
He completed Internal Medicine residency and a year of chief residency at the University at Buffalo, NY. He completed a Hematology/Oncology fellowship, and was a chief fellow at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. After his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Case Western Reserve University. He was the medical director of of the multidisciplinary lung cancer program at the Cleveland VA Medical Center where he was the recipient of a major VA grant to improve veterans’ access to lung cancer care.
In January 2017, he joined the Mayo Clinic, Florida, where he is currently a thoracic medical oncologist and an assistant professor of medicine at the division of Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Manochakian’s research activities are a mix of clinical and quality improvement research. He has served as an investigator and a principal investigator on several cancer clinical trials.
Dr. Manochakian has a special passion for medical education. He received awards honoring and in recognition of his teaching and contribution to education. He has been involved in many educational activities at institutional level as well as with national and international medical societies including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). He is currently the associate director for the Hematology/Oncology fellowship program at Mayo Clinic, FL. He is also a senior fellow member of the Academy of Educational Excellence at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
