My dad was my best friend and was the first person I would go to when something great happened in my life. He made sure to always express how much he loved me and how proud of me he was every time I saw him. My life got flipped upside down when he got diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer during my senior year of high school. He was such a fighter and was able to go through multiple cycles of chemo without too many complaints.

The hardest period was the last year before he lost his battle. He was in so much pain and suffering but held on for so long in the hopes of being able to attend my pharmacy school graduation in June 2021. Unfortunately, this was not able to happen. I just wish he got screened earlier by his PCP--maybe he could have lived to see the many milestones that have yet to happen in mine and my family's lives.
