My father died of lung cancer when I was 25. I had to watch him slowly deteriorate over the course of a few years. I remember the cough that he had before he was diagnosed and the descriptions of the pain in his chest.
I know the stigma around lung cancer, that it was his fault for smoking or his fault for not caring for his body. My dad will never meet his grandchildren and will never be able to see the NY Giants win another Super Bowl.
