My mother was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in November 2013. She went to her primary care doctor complaining that her vision was off. He prescribed blood pressure medicine. She went back the following month with the same complaint. In addition, she mentioned a fluttering in her eye and was told that it was a side effect of the blood pressure medicine. Then one day she could not lift her arms and had to be taken to the hospital. A CAT scan was performed and she learned that there were tumors in her brain and her lungs.

She had the gamma knife surgery on the brain tumors and underwent various chemotherapy treatments. Her doctor discontinued chemotherapy because it was not working and the cancer was spreading to her lymph nodes and liver. She passed away in June of 2014 at the age of 67.

It is truly devastating to watch your mother suffer from this brutal disease. I HOPE we can come together and make a difference. More research into treatment and cure of lung cancer must be done.
