Jan R., WA

My husband Lyle was my best friend and much beloved by his family and friends. We nicknamed him The Lyle because he seemed capable of just about anything. He was a talented iron worker, athlete, carpenter, you name it - fun loving by nature, but disciplined in so many ways. Lyle became ill in early November 2020 after we noticed an enlarged lymph node on his neck. Two weeks later, we were shocked and completely devastated by his diagnosis, stage IV lung cancer with a dire prognosis. Determined to fight, Lyle managed his first chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment well, so we were surprised when he became ill with blood clots shortly thereafter. Lyle transitioned to hospice in early January and passed later that month. The anniversary of Lyle’s death just passed and still it seems surreal that our beloved Lyle is gone. There are so many questions left unanswered. How could this happen to a man who was extremely healthy and fit? How could we have prevented this? Why now, in his early 50’s, when he had become the best version of himself? Why didn’t he have better results from treatment? And now, how can those of us living make a difference so those affected by this horrible disease have a fighting chance and some hope? TeamLyle is ready to support this cause.

We’ll miss your smile and wit, our beloved Lyle, until we meet on heavens trails! We will love you for always, Jan, Sophie and your family and friends
