Mark C., WV

I’m 58 years old and started smoking at age of 16. I would quit for a couple years a couple of times. I worked out at least 3 times a week since I was in my teen’s up to October 22, 2021. The day I found out I had NON SINGLE CELL LUNG CANCER AND EMPHYSEMA. Half my right lung (half second lobe and all third lobe). Surgery was done April 13, 2022. It’s been the fight of my life always thinking “not me”. I went from 6ft 2” 210lbs down to 158lbs. After going through step down and pulmonary rehabilitation at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington Wv 25701. I’m on the road to recovery and have gained 10ths back and a little strength. My breathing I’ve been told will get worse as time goes by. I’m using Anoro inhaler and Combivent Respimat daily to help me through my days as of now. I watch one Uncle die from lung cancer and have had several other Uncle and Aunts and Grandpa die from lung cancer. I work for 2 car dealerships as building maintenance and try to spread the word about also quitting and at least get a chest X-ray. I want to help in my local area but not sure how.
