My wife, Marilyn, was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in September 2016.

We were shocked by the diagnosis because this type of cancer is almost exclusively in current or former smokers and Marilyn never smoked or lived with a smoker. She immediately began radiation therapy and platinum-based chemo. In the 22 months of her life post-diagnosis, she was undergoing one or more treatments for all but three months. In spite of the incurable nature of small cell lung cancer and in spite of undergoing extensive treatment, my wife faced her battle against cancer with beauty and grace.

She is an inspiration to our four children and me. She will always be a huge part of me, and I will forever miss her beautiful smile and heartwarming laugh.
