Michelle S., NY

I am currently a nonsmoker of five years...I quit because my father and grandfather both died quite young of lung cancer...both smokers.

But what scares me is that my father's cancer was NOT detected until it was stage four and he was given six months to live...VERY VERY devastating...and as told we as diagnosed in April of 2013 and died in October of 2013 at the age of 66. He worked hard all his life and only enjoyed retirement for four short years.

My grandpa died at 56 of the same thing. So now I'm 46 and scared to death. I'm too young to be screened and very nervous. I also lost a good friend the same way as my father. After diagnosed she died within three months. It's terrifying to me that this can't be detected before stage four. That has to change. Both my dad and friend seemed pretty healthy leading up to diagnosed.
