Shayla U.

Hi my names Shayla and I'm 31 years old. I have a 7 year old son and he's my world.

Three months ago I developed a deep, hard, dry cough. The doctor prescribed several antibiotics but nothing worked. Then, three weeks ago, my heart went tachycardiac and my lungs felt like they were being squeezed in a vise and lit on fire at the same time. I spiked a fever and my blood pressure and white blood cell count were extremely high. I went to my local hospital where they kept me overnight and did a CT scan. I was told I had pneumonia but they also saw areas of solid clusters. I was transferred to a larger hospital to get the care I needed. After a seven day stay and a bronchoscopy they found a disease called sarcoidosis in my lungs. The lymph nodes between my lungs were very enlarged. There are a mass and clusters of granulomas in the bottom of my right lung that are too deep to biopsy at this time. The other biopsies came back as infection and sarcoidosis but not cancer. They put me on a high dose of Prednisone and an antibiotic and sent me home.

Yesterday morning I was jerked awake by a sudden, penetrating pain in the back of my left lung and proceeded to throw up a blood clot. Thus was followed by chest pressure (the vise again), incontinence, dizziness, confusion and projectile vomiting. I'm back in the big city hospital where I'm on a heart monitor, a couple of new aggressive steroids and antibiotics. I'm getting a endoscopy in the morning because my x-ray now shows spots on my upper intestines and then an echocardiogram because they see a mass in my right ventricle. I'll also be doing a sleep study tomorrow evening to measure the pressure in my lungs and get me set up with a bipap to give my lungs a break.

I started a GoFundMe account because my insurance is horrible and a lot of things that I need are not covered. It's so terribly hard to breath that I break sweats....drenching sweats.
