Twenty-three years ago the most amazing person I know brought me into the world, my mother. I have never met a more loving, voice of reason in my life.

Like all kids, I took my mother for granted. I lived with her until she passed away in April 2017. I never knew how different my life would be without my mom. She pushed me to be my best. She is the reason I started grad school this past August.

I wanted to make her proud and I didn't even get the chance to tell her I was accepted into grad school. Through graduating my bachelors program, my last semester was not easy. I found out in September 2016 my mom was dying. While trying to finish up and graduate, I was working, going back and forth to chemotherapy, and endless doctors appointments.

I also wanted to spend as much time as I could with my mom. Seven months after getting a diagnosis, my mom passed away. There isn't a day that goes by without thinking about my amazing queen of a mother. Because of her, I do not want to see others go through what she went through.

My goal is to raise as much as I can in an effort to find a solution for lung cancer. It is a huge goal, but I truly believe the littlest amount can still change lives.
