Violet L., FL

My name is Violet Lowrey and I am the Director of Student Service at Keiser University Fort Lauderdale. I've signed up to be a part of the LUNG FORCE initiative to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by lung disease. My community is very important to me and through Leadership Broward, I was able to connect with the American Lung Association. I became chair of the South Florida Turquoise Takeover Lung Cancer awareness campaign at the end of 2016. At the same time, I learned that my mother-in-law Thelma Lowrey got diagnosed with Lung Cancer.

Through advances in research and experimental drugs, my mother-in-law was able to extend her life, play with her grandkids, and travel another four years. Unfortunately, on Feb. 12, 2020 she lost her battle to this horrible disease - Lung Cancer. Many of you met her through the turquoise events. She was a strong supporter of the Turquoise Takeover mission and loved the color turquoise. In fact, we went on several trips shopping to find clothes, jewelry and all things turquoise for the events. She will live on in our memories and our hearts.

Will you join me in supporting this great cause?
