Dr. Amit “Bobby” Mahajan is the medical director of interventional pulmonology and the complex airways disease program for the Inova Health System. He is board certified in interventional pulmonology, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and internal medicine. He has a special interest in management of malignant complex airway diseases, airway complications following lung transplantation, and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) for patients with severe emphysema. Additionally, he oversees the Inova incidental lung nodule program and the Inova lung cancer screening program. He is fellowship trained in various procedures including rigid bronchoscopy, stent placement, airway thermal therapy, endobronchial ultrasound bronchoscopy (EBUS), electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (EMN), tunneled pleural catheter placement, and endobronchial valve placement.

Dr. Mahajan serves on the board of directors for the American Association of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) and the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). He has authored numerous articles in interventional pulmonology and in 2022 he was awarded to White House Presidential Service Award for his work during the COVID19 Pandemic and for his work with the American Lung Association.

Dr. Mahajan is a native of Toledo, OH, and currently resides in Vienna, VA, with his wife and three children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and playing basketball.
