I have asthma. I was diagnosed with it when I was 20. I've never smoked and as a child my lungs were fine. My mom died of lung cancer. She didn't smoke but still died.

My mom lived in Denver when she got lung cancer. Denver has a brown cloud, otherwise known as pollution that surrounds it. I do think my mom's cancer and my asthma have a lot to do with the current state of our air.
