What We Advocate For

Our vision is a world free of lung disease, and we’re working to get there by championing laws and policies that protect lung health, ensure access to care, reduce tobacco use, and advance clean air.

The American Lung Association advocates to policymakers at the state, local and federal levels.

  • We push for legislators in statehouses and in the U.S. Congress to pass laws that protect lung health.
  • We call on mayors, governors and federal agencies to set stronger lung health policies.
  • When needed, we join lawsuits to defend good policies and challenge harmful ones in the courts.
