Dr. Woodruff is Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Vice Chief for Research in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy. He obtained his MD from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, trained in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and in Pulmonary/Critical Care at UCSF. He also has a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health.  His basic and clinical research focuses on mechanisms of disease and new therapeutic approaches in asthma and COPD. He has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) and the Association of American Physicians (AAP).
