MATCH Study: Inviting Volunteers

Join a virtual research study for adolescents and young adults with asthma from all over the United States.

All study activities occur using your smart phone or study-provided tablet.

 

If you or your teen are 12 to 35 years old and have asthma, our asthma clinical study might be a good fit for you. This study may help to manage your or your child’s asthma and the results may help others. All study visits are virtual telehealth appointments scheduled at your convenience.

The trial is conducted by the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers

What is the MATCH study?

MATCH is "Improving Medication Adherence with Telehealthcare Medication Therapy Management to Change Health Outcomes in Adolescents and Young Adults with Asthma.”

We are studying whether having regular telehealth appointments with a pharmacist will help adolescents and young adults with asthma better understand and use their inhaled medications and experiencing fewer asthma symptoms.

asthma inhaler with sensor; survey on mobile phone Participants will use sensors on their inhalers to monitor use and will answer an asthma survey on their phone or computer every two (2) weeks.

Participation Details

  • Complete 5 study virtual telehealth appointments using a smart phone or study-provided tablet for asthma checkups.
  • Complete questionnaires and have breathing tests with a study-provided device.
  • Use sensors attached to your inhalers to provide reminders and track medication use.
  • Complete an asthma survey by text or email every two (2) weeks.
  • Half of participants will also have private one-on-one virtual telehealth appointments with a pharmacist to talk about any medication questions, concerns, and strategies to help improve asthma.
  • Yes, compensation is provided for completing the telehealth appointments.
  • Gain control of asthma, improve inhaler use, and decrease asthma impact on activities.
  • Keep the tablet, inhaler sensors, and breathing test device provided for the study.
  • Schedule virtual telehealth appointments at convenient times.
  • This study is funded by the National Institute of Health National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the American Lung Association
