Hi! My name is Lisa, wife to Jeffrey.
First of all, Jeff was diagnosed with COPD in 2020. He had worked construction in paper mills and oil refineries for 38 years. Companies didn’t want to hire him anymore, saying he was a high risk for the company in case of an evacuation.
In the meantime, he filed for disability. While we waited for SSDI to be approved, we ended up losing our home, our vehicle, and everything else that wasn’t paid off.
This year, in 2025, Jeff was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. We’ve been in and out of the hospital because, even with rescue inhalers, a nebulizer and oxygen, nothing seemed to keep his oxygen levels up. I’ve seen him struggle so much to breathe—it just breaks my heart.
It’s been a rocky road, but we take it one day at a time. He’s now on home health care to try to build his strength back up.
