Advocacy Day 2022 Call Script

Thank you for calling your Senators and Representative in Washington as part of our Virtual LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day 2022!  We have three asks for Congress this year: 

1.    Please make quality healthcare more affordable for millions of Americans; 

2.    Please increase funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and

3.    Please provide vital funding for the National Institutes of Health. 

In order to maximize the effectiveness of your calls, please call on Wednesday, April 6.

Please only call the office of the two Senators and one House member that represent your state and congressional district (three calls total) on Wednesday, April 6. 

Recognizing that some offices ask constituents to leave messages, be sure to leave a message if you don’t reach a live staff person.  

Call Script

• I’m calling [Senator [INSERT NAME] OR Representative [INSERT NAME] today to ask [HIM/HER] to permanently extend the enhanced premium tax credits included in the American Rescue Plan Act.  This will help millions of Americans by making their healthcare premiums more affordable.

•  I also ask that [Senator [INSERT NAME] support $11 billion for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and $49 billion for the National Institutes of Health in fiscal year 2023. Increased funding for these two agencies will help protect our nation’s health from disease, including lung cancer. It will help ensure there can be better treatments, early detection and cures for lung cancer. 

• Can I count on Senator [INSERT NAME] to support $11 billion in funding for the CDC, $49 billion in funding for the NIH and to make the expanded premium healthcare tax credits permanent?
